Ceasefire: We’ll believe Boko Haram after 30 days – Ibrahim

<img alt="" class="size-medium wp-image-59613" height="187" src="http://naijacarrygo.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/ChiefofDefenceStaffViceAdmiralOlaIbrahim-300x187.jpg" width="300" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text"><span>Admiral Ola Ibrahim</span></p></div><br/><p>The Federal Government Tuesday said that it would only take the offer of ceasefire by a faction of the dreaded Islamic group, Boko Haram seriously on the condition that it must stop its violence in the North for a period of one month.</p><br/><p>The Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ola Ibrahim, disclosed the Federal Government’s position just as the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, summoned an emergency security meeting over increased presence of foreign immigrants in the FCT.</p><br/><p>Addressing newsmen in Abuja, at the opening of the 2013 seminar on National Security with the theme, Contemporary National Security Challenges: Policy Option, organised by the Alumni Association of the National Defence College, Abuja, Ibrahim said that while security chiefs were happy over the development, they are yet to believe until one month after.</p><br/><p>According to him, the federal government would only take the peace overture seriously if Boko Haram could ensure that attacks of whatever form did not take place for 30 days.<br/>He stated that security operatives would wait for the period to see if no public place, security formation and places of worship were bombed before taking the sect seriously.</p><br/><p>Ibrahim also expressed optimism that the development would culminate into improved security in the country.<br/>He said, “You see, we must treat that with a lot of caution. You understand, there are certain objective tests that will make sense. Let’s assume we can have a long period of about one month where no bomb explodes, where nobody is shot, where nobody is beheaded, where no church is bombed, where no mosque is threatened.</p><br/><br/><p>“If they can guarantee just one month, then we can begin to talk. You see we must take this with a lot of caution. That is what I am telling you.<br/>“We hope whatever that must have brought about this will further enhance our security and it’s like a recognition of the very futile approach to solving whatever they consider to be their problems. So we are a bit excited by it but we are taking everything with a lot of caution.”<br/>It would be recalled that one of Boko Harama’s commanders for Southern and Northern Borno, Muhammed Abdulazeez, had in a statement on Monday, said the sect had resolved to stop its violence after a dialogue with the Government of Borno State in Maiduguri.</p><br/><p>Abdulazeez urged all Boko Haram members to ceasefire in honour of the declaration.</p><br/><p>Abdulazeez had said, “For sometime now, we the members of Jamaatul ahlil Boko Haram sunna lidawati wal jihad otherwise known as Boko Haram have recently had a meeting and dialogue with the government of Borno State where we resolved that given the prevailing situation, there is the need for us to cease fire.<br/>“We, on our own, in the top hierarchy of our movement under the leadership of Imam Abubakar Shekau, as well as some of our notable followers agreed that our brethren in Islam, both women and children are suffering unnecessarily; hence we resolved that we should bring this crisis to an end.<br/>“We therefore call on all those that identify themselves with us and our cause, to from today(Monday) lay down their arms. Let every member who hears this announcement relay it to the next member who hasn’t heard.<br/>“We have met with the Borno State Government on two occasions and the fallout of the meeting was to cease fire.”</p><br/><p>Former President Olusegun Obasanjo had in 2011 initiated a dialogue between the Federal Government and the sect.<br/>Obasanjo had visited the family of the late leader of the sect, Mohammed Yusuf, in Maiduguri, where he was received by the father-in-law of the leader, Babakura Fuggu.<br/>Fuggu was killed a few days after Obasanjo’s visit.</p><br/><p>In November last year, the sect named a former Head of State, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) and six others to mediate between it and the government.</p>

Masanawa also ordered that Naibi’s estranged wife, who had filed for divorce, must remain married to him pending the full refund of the amount.<br/><br/>“Based on the evidence before me, the court is convinced that the plaintiff’s parents are dubious people that no child should be proud of. They collected money from different suitors, all with the fraudulent intention of marrying their daughter out to them; all of which turned out to be fake promises.<br/><br/>“This honourable court hereby orders the plaintiff to pay the defendant the sum of N570,000 before divorce is granted to her,’’ Masanawa said.<br/><br/>Naibi of Keke village, Kaduna, whose wife allegedly starved him of sex for two years of their marriage, had demanded N1. 2 million as compensation from the wife’s parents before he would agree to his wife’s request for divorce.<br/><br/><br/> <br/>Naibi, 37, while testifying in the case, said the amount covered the bride price he paid before marrying Suleiman.<br/><br/>He told the court that the amount also covered the cost of damage done to his house after Suleiman set it on fire before filing for divorce. Naibi tendered written documents with records of all expenses made on his estranged wife and her parents, in addition to presenting a witness who testified in his favour.<br/><br/>He told the court that his wife had refused to make love to him since they got married two years ago.<br/><br/>“Your worship, since we got married two years ago, my wife never allowed me to make love to her for once and all my attempts to do it always led to fighting.<br/><br/>“I married her out of love and I still love her, but with this development, I have no choice, but to ask the court to grant her divorce wish for the sake of peace,” Naibi said.<br/><br/>In her testimony, Suleiman said her husband had made love to her once but she was not impressed and so wanted divorce.<br/><br/>“I don’t love him; I don’t love anybody who bears his name and I hate anybody who loves him,” she told the court.<br/><br/>Naibi’s in-laws denied most of his claims.<br/><br/> <br/><br/>[PM News]

<p>Less than 24 hours that the former and immediate past NDLEA Boss, Mr. Hatsiwa Bwala was killed at his home town in Ngwa in Hawul Local Government area of Borno state, eight people were reportedly slaughtered by unknown persons suspected to be members of Islamic sect, Boko Haram in Gajiganna community in Magumeri local government council of the state.</p><br/><p>Confirming the incident in a text massage, spokesman of the Joint Task Force on Operation Restore Order in Borno, Lt. Col. Sagir Musa said Gajiganna, a community in Magumeri local government area of Borno state was attacked by unknown gunmen at about 3:00am on Sunday.</p><br/><p>Lt.Col. Sagir Musa said, information revealed that lives were lost but that the exact number was yet to be ascertained. <a href="http://naijacarrygo.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/20130128-191234.jpg"><img alt="20130128-191234.jpg" class="alignnone size-full" src="http://naijacarrygo.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/20130128-191234.jpg" /></a><br /><br/><p>Isanlu-Isin (Kwara) Tragedy occurred on Friday in Isanlu-Isin in Kwara, when a middle-aged man, Taye Ibiwoye, allegedly clubbed his mother to death with an axe.</p><br/><p>The deceased identified as Sarah Ibiwoye, who was said to be in her late sixties, died instantly from the attack which shattered her skull.</p><br/><p>The community was further thrown into mourning when another elderly woman, simply identified as `Iya Eleja’ slumped and died when the news of Sarah’s death was broken to her.</p><br/><p>The people of the community said that the accused was mentally derailed and had been under treatment for sometime.</p><br/><p>Some sources, who preferred anonymity, said that Ibiwoye had complained to the policemen who came for his arrest from Oke-Onigbin that his mother was behind his travails.</p><br/><p>He was also said to have told the policemen that while his brothers were living comfortably, he was rotting away in abject poverty because of his mother’s action.</p><br/><p>A relation to Iya Eleja, on condition of anonymity, said that the woman was hale and hearty before the unfortunate incident.</p><br/><p>“We have just come back from Omu-Aran where we went to buy the woman’s coffin. There was nothing wrong with Iya Ejeja who was hale and hearty before the news was broken to her.</p><br/><p>“Immediately the news of the incident was narrated to her, she slumped and died,” the source said.</p><br/><p>The Divisional Police Officer, Oke-Onigbin Police Command, DSP. Mr Olutekunbi Ekundayo, said that the case would be transferred to the State CID Headquarters in Ilorin for investigation.</p><br/><p>“There is not much we can do here as far as this case is concerned, particularly as regards the issue of the accused person’s state of health.</p><br/><p>“Though, it was a case of a culpable homicide but as you can see now, I am preparing the file for the transfer of the case to the State CID for appropriate investigation,” he said. If the terrorists in Mali are wiped out, that is the end of the ones in Nigeria and that is why Nigeria is at the fore-front of the Mali war.</p><br/><p>“We have reports that the violent sects here have been instructed to increase their terror acts and it is not surprising. That is why they have become very restive in the North. We are at the border to intercept whatever arms they are planning to bring in. We also have plain-clothes security men in the North monitoring activities. Mba stated that the war in Mali was necessary to put an end to terrorism in that country.</p><br/><p>“All the terror groups in Nigeria receive major financing and training from Mali and it is expected that they will not be pleased with the war. They get support from Mali and we know they are not happy we are with the war, but Nigerians cannot to be held hostage. We are ready for them. We owe Nigerians a duty to be in Mali to totally eradicate terrorism from Nigeria,” he said.</p><br/><p>Similarly, the President of the Northern Civil Society Coalition, Mr. Shehu Sani, stated that the war in Mali posed a security challenge because <i>JAMBS</i> and other sects that are sympathetic to Malian Islamists would target countries that contributed troops to the multinational force battling Islamists in the country.</p><br/><p>“Nigeria has to cover its tracks at home. We are vulnerable to reprisals. There is no doubt that terrorists in Mali will inflict damage on countries participating in the war,” he said.</p><br/><p>Meanwhile, <i>JAMBS</i>, has launched a massive recruitment drive in the North. Reliable sources in the security services told one of our correspondents that the sect aimed to be “bigger and deadlier” than the better known Boko Haram sect.</p><br/><p>In recent times, <i>JAMBS</i>, which has been described as an international terror group, has claimed responsibility for some headline-grabbing terrorist acts. It was learnt that the ongoing recruitment by the sect, targets young persons, mainly men, indoctrinated to fight for the cause of the sect.</p><br/><p>Even though the recruitment is restricted to the North for now, <i>SUNDAYPUNCH</i> gathered that the sect had plans to stretch its search for recruits to other parts of the country.</p><br/><p>Sani said <i>JAMBS</i> was more dangerous than Boko Haram and that “foreign interests have much to fear from the new group.”</p><br/><p>“<i>JAMBS</i> is in competition with Boko Haram and it won’t be difficult for them to get recruits in a society of millions of disenfranchised youths. It will be easy for them to get volunteers from the lower rung of the society. Its agenda is different from Boko Haram’s. The group is strictly toeing the instructions of the al-Qaeda which is to target foreign groups and persons.</p><br/><p>“What makes this group very dangerous is their mobility. You cannot say this is where they are located. They operate a mobile command and no part of Nigeria is immune to their acts. If they can attack troops in Kogi, that tells you the nature of the group.</p><br/><p>“It is difficult to estimate their actual number because they are not in a particular position, but I can tell you that they have high capacity to inflict lethal damage and to also carry our operations without being caught.” he said</p><br/><p>Sani said the sect was not interested in “local matters” like Boko Haram.</p><br/><p>“The Federal Government needs to know that this new group is interested in issues of global significance like events happening in Mali, the Middle East and in the Maghreb. The kidnapping of expatriates is an indication of what this group is about. They have a clear intention to pursue the agenda of the al-Qaeda. They are charting a new course beyond the shores of Nigeria,” he added.</p><br/><p>Mba however said it would be difficult for the sect to have a base in the North.</p><br/><p>“We can’t tell you what we know about <i>JAMBS</i>. There are some certain elements in the leadership of PFN led by Cardinal John Onaiyekan because he lost PFN Presidency to Oritsejafor, who has a lot of achievements,” he said.</p><br/><p>“There is no need for anybody to lose sleep over the threat by Catholics to pull out of CAN because without them CAN will still continue. What did the Catholics know about the vision of the founding fathers? CAN was formed because of the marginalisation of Christians in the North. The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, in a reaction to the conviction of Henry Okah, its alleged leader, said it will soon begin the dismantling of Nigeria.<br/><br/>Okah was sentenced to life imprisonment by a South African High Court on Monday, for masterminding the October 1, 2010 Independence Anniversary bombing that killed 12 people.<br/><br/>The group in statement released over the weekend, said it will go after “all the family members of the Government (1999-2013)” adding that “Nigerians as a whole will feel our presence when we finally decide to carry out our targets which will not be restricted to the Niger Delta Region alone”.<br/><br/>The letter dated January 23 2013 and signed by ‘Comrade Azizi’, declared that the impending attacks will begin after OKah’s appeal.<br/><br/>Below is full text of the statement<br/>Ref: MEND/QTD/82MP/2013<br/><br/>23rd JANUARY 2013<br/><br/>CONVICTION OF OUR LEADER AND FOUNDER MR. Their offences include having expired documents and being illegal aliens. About eight of the deportees, including three females, were deported for alleged criminal offences.</p><br/><p>The returnees came from Spain, Bulgaria, Romania and the United Kingdom.</p><br/><p>The eight persons deported for alleged criminal offences, were immediately arrested on arrival by policemen and taken to the Criminal Investigation Department, Nigerian Police Force, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos, in a Toyota pick-up with registration number “Ontario AZKC-549.”</p><br/><p>Information Nigeria learnt that the five male deportees initially resisted arrest, but were later persuaded to cooperate by the policemen.</p>

Someone told me that he was spotted at Imande village, some few minutes from here, but later I discovered that a mob had killed him at the Makurdi road in Naka town”, Daniel said.</p><br/><p>Narrating how the man killed one of his victims, Zaki Tor Gbenda who was a childhood friend of the insane young man before his death said Edwin hacked a 30 year old Mrs. Nyishima Tyosue a native of Tse-Dzwatema, Mbayoondu, Gbaange/ Tongov to death.</p><br/><p>“The murdered woman was my uncle’s wife. I watched from afar as the woman pursued Edwin with a stick after he had killed his nine- year old son Terhile Tyosue with a matchet. Her strength failed her and she fell down. Edwin who she was chasing suddenly came after her, caught up with her and ordered her to kneel down. And in a jiffy, I saw him chop off the woman’s head with the machet. I shouted and he ran after me”, Zaki said as he fought back tears.</p><br/><p>Hitherto, the lunatic had invited his 15 year old brother, Iorguma to his block moulding site on the pretense that he wanted to show him something. While there, he chopped off his brother’s head. It was gathered that the insane man suddenly started pursuing people on the streets and a community earth dam where he caught up with a 10 year old Dangote Samuel of Tse-Uchough Nyamshi village and another nine- year old Joy Ortwav both of whom he seriously injured with his machete but later died at the Federal Medical center, Apir. “After this last killing, the people became aware of his escapades, so youths in the village mobilized themselves and searched the entire village until they caught him where he was hiding in a bush in a nearby village.</p><br/><p>”They had contemplated taking him to the police but they finally resolved to mete out jungle justice on him by beating him to death”.</p><br/><p>Commenting on the unfortunate incident, Chairman of Gwer West local council, Mrs. Eunice Mbajwa who described the incident as horrifying said she could not comprehend the unfortunate killings.</p><br/><p>“For sometime now, I’ve not been able to sleep well nor have I been able to resume work, it’s indeed saddening. But generally, we have ensured that peace prevailed in the entire community”, Mrs. Mbajwa said.</p><br/><p>At the time of visiting the troubled village, some youths were seen digging the grave for the deceased mad man while his shocked wife who had been sobbing uncontrolably managed to utter these words, “my husband was a nice man. I never envisaged that he would commit such an act.”</p><br/><p>Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in charge of the state,Deputy Superintendent of Police Daniel Ezeala who also confirmed the incident, decried the villagers resort to jungle justice but added that the command was investigating the matter to ascertain if the man was actually insane.</p>

She said she was still shocked that he was killed in the process.<br/>On her relationship with the late Ganiyu, she said he was her lover and that she is from Oyo State and married to another man with kids.<br/>It was learnt that while she was still with her husband, she was also dating other men, including Ganiyu secretly.<br/>On the day of the incident, she said that the late Ganiyu assaulted her and since she could not overpower him, she went and brought the suspects who eventually murdered him.<br/>She confessed to sending the suspects to harass and beat 25-year-old Ganiyu up and not to kill him.<br/>“I did not ask them to kill him, only to harass and beat him. I later learnt that they killed him with a machete,” she said.<br/>One of the suspects, Damilola, told swore that they did not intend to kill him, but used the machete after he attacked them with bottle.<br/>“We went to ask him his problem with Rawan, but instead of answering us, he snatched a broken bottle and stabbed me,” he stated.<br/>He said he went to the bread factory and brought a machete and inflicted injury that resulted in Ganiyu’s death.<br/>He also described Rawan as one of his customers at the bakery.<br/>“I am at a loss on what to do and I don’t know how I am going to get out of this,” he cried at the station.<br/>Another suspect, Sodiq, confessed that Rawan was also her lover but that he did not take part in the fighting.<br/>A witness said that the late Ganiyu sustained several injuries on his body following the machete attack on him, adding that he died because he lost too much blood.<br/>The body had since been deposited at the Gbagada General Hospital for autopsy. Boy Allegedly Beaten To Death By His Father For Poor School Grades

A 12-year-old Emirati boy in Abu Dhabi has allegedly been beaten to death by his father, reports in the UAE has revealed.<br/><br/>The father, who beat his son for receiving bad grades in the first trimester school examinations, is currently in police custody pending official charges next week.<br/><br/>Police officials told newsmen that the incident occurred towards the end of December, 2012.<br/><br/>According to sources close to the family, the victim was enrolled in grade 8. Having underperformed in the school examinations, he had been afraid to show his grades to his family and had hidden them.<br/><br/>When the victim’s father found out about the grades, he reportedly beat his son using a computer cable until the son collapsed.<br/><br/>The victim who was rushed to the hospital sources alleged had died before reaching the hospital due to the severity of his injuries, which led to a cardiac arrest. The father then fled his home but was later found by the Abu Dhabi Police.<br/><br/>Friends of the family claimed that the father had previously been an alcoholic, and that he had received treatment for his addiction. He was also allegedly unemployed when the incident occurred.<br/><br/>A police official who pleaded anonymity said the family lives in Al Farah area in Abu Dhabi.<br/><br/>“We are aware of the incident and have also received reports from the hospital where the boy was taken. However, due to the sensitivity of the case and because it is an internal family matter, the details were not revealed to the public at the time,” he said.<br/><br/>Investigations into the incident by the Public Prosecution will begin next week, the official said. Anyone who can’t get enough of a “good” thing so much that it turns bad is lustful.<br/><br/>Gluttony: Gluttony isn’t just about excessive eating, it pertains to wanting anything in excessive amounts even when you have no use for it. Anyone who wants more than they need or can make use of at any point in time is a glutton.<br/><br/>Greed: Pertains to an obsessive desire for material wealth and Power. A desire to amass any and everything the world has to offer. Anyone who revels in the attainment of wealth and power in order to be better than and/or have control over others is greedy.<br/><br/>Sloth: Sloth is a kind of spiritual laziness as opposed to mere physical fatigue. It means not making it a priority to do what we should, or change what we should in ourselves. Some people might call it apathy, which means a lack of feeling. An example of sloth is someone avoiding to do the right thing due to a lack of personal motivation.<br/><br/>Wrath: Wrath or anger is an emotion that makes us want do hostile things to each other. It isn’t the “anger” itself that is the sin, but the actions it leads us to should we allow it to. An example of an action anger can cause is vengeance.<br/><br/>Envy: Envy is the love of what other people possess, rather than what is Good, Beautiful and True. Anyone who covets what people around him/her have and wishes it was theirs is envious.<br/><br/>Pride: Pride is actually at the root of all sin. That is why it is listed first and that’s why I’m talking about it last. This is because pride is first and foremost inherent in all sin. Proud people are those that look condescendingly on others. They look at others as inferior in an arrogant way and see themselves as better than everyone else.<br/>It is pride that makes you envious. It is pride that makes you angry. It is pride that makes you greedy. Pride is the root cause of lust! Of gluttony! and if you look closely, of sloth too. Laziness comes out of believing,you’re too good to do something or an action is beneath you, therefore you do nothing.<br/>In conclusion, after my research I believe that if we all let go of pride, a lot of wrongs in the world would turn right.

Community leader arrested with 5 human heads in plateau

It was a gory sight yesterday in one Mangu community, Plateau State when security men recovered five human skulls from a community leader in the community.<br/><br/>The human skulls according to sources were uncovered after a rigorous search at the premises of the community leader by a combined team of soldiers and policemen who stormed the village around 10.30 am following a tip off.<br/><br/>The security men who reportedly came from Abuja stormed the village in about five Hilux vans and immediately cordoned off the premises of the community leader popularly called Ardo and began a search which led to the recovery of some human heads hidden in the ceiling.<br/><br/>According to eyewitness, some dangerous weapons were also recovered from the premises. The hearing coincided with the release of a report which said the centre had improved but there were still problems.<br/><br/>The jury inquest, which finished Thursday, January 24, 2013, heard Mr Balogan moved to the UK when he was seven-years-old and spent much of his childhood in institutions. He was transferred to Glen Parva, which holds men aged 18 to 21, in April 2011 to await deportation.<br/><br/><br/>The morning he was found hanged on 8 May 2011 he was assessed by staff after cutting himself.<br/><br/>Paul Mayfield, a senior prison officer, said at the hearing: "He told me he had nothing to live for. He said ‘I’ll be deported back to Nigeria. I’ve got no-one back there. I’ll be living in the slums."<br/><br/>He was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary after staff tried to revive him but died a week later.<br/><br/>The hearing also heard he had a string of previous convictions and that at the end of April he struggled to speak to a nurse because he was sobbing so hard.<br/><br/>An interim report by the Inspectorate of Prisons showed the institute was "making sufficient progress" since its last inspection in 2009.<br/><br/>Inspectors, who visited after Mr Balogan’s death, said they were pleased to see improvements in the management of vulnerable prisoners and that suicide and self-harm was "generally well-managed". <a href="http://naijacarrygo.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/20130124-155256.jpg"><img alt="20130124-155256.jpg" class="alignnone size-full" src="http://naijacarrygo.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/20130124-155256.jpg" /></a><br /><br />One of the traders in Gatankowa market, oke-odo, Lagos, Taofeeq Shobulo, is to serve six months prison terms, for allegedly urinating in a pot of soup and provoking breach of peace on the 17th of January.<br/><br/>The 38-year-old convict, who pleaded guilty to the charges, was sentenced on Tuesday by an Ojokoro Senior<br/>Magistrates’ Court.<br/><br/>His prosecutor, Lugard Ahonle told the court that “Shobulo had asked the food vendor, Olayiwola Olayemisi, to sell food to him on credit which she refused because, according to her, the accused was fond of eating without paying.<br/><br/>“The accused later came back while the food vendor was not paying attention and urinated into her pot of soup,’’ he said.<br/><br/><br/> <br/>The prosecutor noted that the offence contravened Sections 136 and 411 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State.<br/><br/>Presiding over the case, the Magistrate K. O. Ogundare sentenced the trader to six moths imprisonment saying “having found you Taofeeq Shobulo, guilty, you are hereby sentenced to six-months imprisonment which will be served concurrently.”

Man Burns Brother’s 7-Month-Pregnant Wife To Death In Imo State For Pouring Water On His Dog

In what might sound like a tale from a Hammer House of Horror movie, a seven-month pregnant woman was recently burnt to death in Umuekechi village, Umuekwunne community in Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State. It was learnt that she was doused with fuel and set ablaze by her brother-in-law. Reason? The woman was said to have poured water on the man's dog.<br/><br/>Sun News gathered that at about mid-day on Wednesday last week, Mrs. Uloma Njoku had served her three children their lunch and continued with her laundry at the backyard. But while the children were eating in the family's compound, the dog of her brother-in-law, Chibueze, allegedly strayed to where they were eating. The dog was said to have dipped its mouth into their cup of water. One of the children then allegedly reported the incident to her mother, Uloma.<br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>Uloma was said to have poured the water on the dog before throwing the cup away. Trouble started when Chibueze, who was said to be inside his room at the time, saw what his brother's wife had done to his dog. According to eyewitnesses, he promptly came out to confront her, demanding to know why she poured water on his dog just because the animal wanted to drink water from a cup. That led to an exchange of abusive words between Uloma and Chibueze. During the altercation, Sun News learnt that Chibueze had threatened to deal with Uloma ruthlessly.<br/><br/>He reportedly left the compound while Uloma went to the back of the compound to spread the clothes she had washed. But unknown to the heavily pregnant woman, Chibueze had gone into his room. He came out with a plastic bowl filled with petrol and made straight for Uloma, who was hanging her washed clothes at the back of the compound. He immediately splashed the fuel on her, set her ablaze and took to his heels. It was the cry of anguish from Uloma that attracted their neighbours who tried to put out the fire. They then rushed her to the community health centre.<br/><br/>Unfortunately, she died the following day as a result of the severe burns she had suffered. One of the villagers told Sun News that ever since the late Uloma was married into that family, she had never been in good terms with Chibueze, adding that the death of Uloma should be blamed on her husband, Emma Njoku. "This incident is nothing but the climax of accumulated grievances by Chibueze. But he went too far this time and that is why the youths had to hunt for him.<br/><br/>And immediately he was caught, he was handed over to the police." Sun News equally learnt that the youths of the village who could no longer bear the atrocities of Chibueze had to fish him out from hiding and hand him over to the police. Many members of the community said Chibueze Njoku had, before the latest atrocity of setting his elder brother's wife on fire, been a terror in the village. One of the community members, a man, said the people, including his family members, were afraid of him, as he had once threatened to kill his elder brother and his children.<br/><br/>He said after the ugly incident, the youths in the community decided to put an end to his nefarious activities. Meanwhile, it was learnt that the relations of the deceased woman are already spoiling for war with the Njoku family if they refuse to hand the culprit to them. The Police Public Relations Officer in Imo State, Vitalis Onugu, a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) confirmed that Chibueze was nabbed and is currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department. The police spokesman said the police authorities are still investigating the matter.

<a href="http://naijacarrygo.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/20130124-073258.jpg"><img alt="20130124-073258.jpg" class="alignnone size-full" src="http://naijacarrygo.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/20130124-073258.jpg" /></a><br /><br />Emotion ran high yesterday, at the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, following a startling revelation by a suspected kidnapper of how he snuffed life out of his seven-year-old victim.<br/><br/>The victim identified simply as Ayuba, was reportedly playing with his friends at Oke-Kube Street in Ikotun area of Lagos, when the kidnapper, Onyeka Patrick,who lives in the same area beckoned him to come.<br/><br/>Report said unsuspecting Ayuba followed Onyeka into his room, located on 16, 3rd Avenue Mumako Estate, only to be kidnapped.<br/><br/><br/>Onyeka, thereafter, wrote a letter to his victim’s parents demanding for N5 Million ransom, including a phone number with which he could be reached.<br/>Policemen at Ikotun division who were contacted, reportedly swung into action and in the process, arrested Onyeka.<br/><br/>Parading the suspect before journalists yesterday, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, said Onyeka was transferred to the Special Anti Robbery Squad, Ikeja, where he confessed to have strangled Ayuba to death.<br/><br/>“He confessed to have kidnapped the seven year-old boy and strangulated him to death. He went ahead to conceal his body in a sack and later dumped it inside a septic tank of an uncompleted building in the same neighbourhood, before writing a letter to the father of the victim, demanding a ransom of N5 Million before the victim will be released. He also, included a phone number with which he could be reached. He has led operatives to recover the decomposed body of the victim which is now deposited at the Isolo General Hospital mortuary for autopsy”, Braide said.<br/><br/>My brother’s wife exposed me <br/><br/>When approached, 25-year-old Onyeka, an indigene of Anambra state blamed the act on the handiwork of the devil. He simply stated that his brother’s wife reported him to the police.<br/><br/>According to him, “ I do not know what came over me.<br/><br/>I know God will not forgive me for this. The first thing that gave me away was my mood. My brother’s wife noticed I was no longer myself since Ayuba was declared missing and reported to her husband. My brother on his part, went to read the letter I wrote to Ayuba’s parents and discovered it was my hand writing. He then handed me over to Ayuba’s father to say all I knew about his missing son. That was how I was taken to the police”.<br/><br/>Asked why he killed the boy instead of releasing him alive to his parents, he replied, “ I killed him in order to block every channel that would link me to the deed. I knew that if I released him alive, he would disclose my identity to his parents who would in turn report to the police and I would be arrested.<br/><br/>How I killed Ayuba.<br/><br/>After inviting him into my room at about 3pm that fateful day, something whispered to me that I could kidnap him and make money out of it. But after detaining him for about two hours, he kept saying he wanted to go to his parents. Not knowing what to do, I gripped him by the neck and strangled him. <a href="http://naijacarrygo.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/20130124-072132.jpg"><img alt="20130124-072132.jpg" class="alignnone size-full" src="http://naijacarrygo.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/20130124-072132.jpg" /></a><br /><br />The Aleato family has been thrown into sorrow following the murder of their 26-year-old daughter, Onyinyechukwu, last Saturday by her ex-boyfriend in Lagos.<br/>The deceased, a sales girl at Alaba International market, Ojo, was reportedly trailed by her ex-boyfriend, Osita Amanunwa from her Iba new site abode, to Ajangbadi area of Lagos, where she had gone to visit a friend.<br/>Crime Alert gathered that the late Onyin, as she was fondly called, sat outside her host’s compound, exchanging banters, without the slightest inkling that death lurked at the corner.<br/>Eye witnesses said she turned and suddenly, the smile on her face disappeared. And when her host turned to the direction of her gaze, they discovered that her ex stood opposite them.<br/>Her host who spoke on condition of anonymity, told crime Alert that: “ she greeted him but he hissed and walked away. He later came back and beckoned on her to come. She excused herself and left…”.<br/><br/>Singular response<br/><br/>He paused at this juncture,quivering with fear. That singular response happened to be Onyin’s greatest undoing because unknown to her, Osita had a sinister motive up his sleeves.<br/>This was confirmed moments later, following a desperate shout for help from the isolated meeting point at number 4/5 Abike Ogunlana close, at about 9pm. At first, no one suspected it could be Onyin.<br/> <br/>But after waiting for a while, her host decided to check on her, only to see Onyin in the pool of her own blood with a knife still thrust in her neck. From all indication, it was obvious that she tried to put up a struggle in order to free herself from the assailant’s grip.<br/><br/>She was also discovered to have managed to crawl from the isolated spot to an open area. But her strength apparently failed her midway, owing to much loss of blood. Unable to crawl further, she stopped, clutching firmly to the earth as if rescue would spring out of it. Osita on the other hand, was nowhere to be found.<br/><br/>Cause of break-up<br/>Crime Alert gathered that before the incident, Osita, a trader at Alaba International market, had on several occasions, threatened to leave an indelible mark on Onyin for dumping him for another man. Investigation revealed that the duo had a romantic relationship that lasted for six years, a relationship that was to lead to marriage until Osita allegedly raped Onyin’s younger sister.<br/><br/><br/>Family sources told Crime Alert that Oyin’s younger sister(names withheld) was sent to deliver a parcel to Osita at his 80 Isiaka street, Iba new site two years ago. However, on reaching his apartment he allegedly raped the teenager who was barely 15 years-old.<br/>It was gathered that the teenager never told anyone about the deed, until she was discovered to be pregnant. She gave birth about a year ago.<br/><br/>Without further warning or advice, Onyinyechukwu, stopped seeing Osita. But her action as gathered, signaled the danger that eventually led to her sudden death, following threat from Osita.<br/>Perhaps, had she listened to her parents, this tragedy might not have befallen her. It was gathered that right from the onset, Onyin’s parents kicked against her relationship with 36-year-old Osita who hails from Akere village in Ogbaru local government area of Anambra state.<br/><br/>Her devastated father, Mr Aleato, offered an explanation to the family’s stance: “ My daughter came back home one fateful day with razor marks all over her body and when I asked what happened, she told me that she fell down. But we were later informed by a friend of hers that her boyfriend, Osita, inflicted the marks on her. I warned her severally to abstain from Osita and every other man who would go to the extent of inflicting such injury on her; men who would not respect her as a woman…”<br/><br/>It was also gathered that Osita had on several occasions beat Onyin publicly, for calling off the relationship , only to start off with another man, boasting that if he could not have her, nobody else would.<br/><br/>Police on the trail of the assailant<br/>Since the tragic incident, Osita’s whereabouts is unknown. Policemen at Ilemba Hausa were however, said to be on his trail. When Crime Alert visited his apartment at Iba new site, it was discovered that Osita had a wife already. Sources hinted that he rushed home that fateful night and informed some of his friends around the area about what he had done and thereafter, picked some of his clothes before disappearing into thin air. Out of fear, his close friends were also discovered to have fled, apparently to avoid being arrested by the Police.<br/><br/>The case, has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) where operatives at the Homicide section have reportedly began investigation.

Policeman Kills His Wife & Landlord’s Wife In Adamawa

There was tragedy at the Mayo Belwa Local Government Area of Adamawa State Wednesday night when a police Inspector posted to the private residence of Governor Murtala Nyako ran amock, killed his wife and that of his land lord.<br/><br/>An eye witness told Vanguard in Yola that the Inspector (names withheld), who refused to surrender his arms and ammunition to the divisional police armourer after closing from duty, went home with it to allegedly kill the victims.<br/><br/>It was gathered that the officer on reaching home first shot his wife dead before turning to his landlord’s wife and equally killed her.<br/><br/>However, his land lord was said to have escaped, when he discovered that his wife and that of the policeman had been shot dead.<br/><br/>The landlord was said to have reported the incident at the Divisional Police Station in the area.<br/><br/>Adamawa State Police command confirmed the incident.<br/><br/>The Police Public Relation’s Officer, PPRO , Ibrahim Mohammed, who spoke to newsmen said that the suspect had since been arrested and is currently undergoing interrogation at the state CID.<br/><br/>Source: Vanguard News

80-year-old Man Paraded By Police For Robbery In Kogi

An 80-year-old man identified as Momoh Rapheal was yesterday arrested and paraded by the Kogi State Police Command along with 14 others for different robbery cases.<br/><br/>Saka Isah, Illiyasu Danjuma, Momoh Sani Danga, Idris Alhaji, Aliyu Fatai, Adamu Umar, Abdullahi Adamu and Ikechuckwu Godfrey, were the other suspects paraded by the command.<br/><br/>The State Commissioner for Police, Muhammed Kastina while parading the suspects at the State police Headquarter, said the 80-year-old man along with five others, Oluwaseun Ikupeleye, Saliyu Mumuni, Ayodele Adeyemi, Kayode Matthew and Ajibade Silas were responsible for snatching a royal father and a local government public relation officer’s vehicles.<br/><br/>The Commissioner added that the 5 man gang on 24th December, 2012 attacked and dispossessed a royal father, Chief Akin Obamero of Okedayo Kabba of his N900, 000 and two handsets and also attacked Hon. Ayo Kayode, the PRO of Kabba/bunu Local Government and dispossessed him of his Honda car with registration number BP 177 FKJ, the sum of N16, 000 and two handsets.<br/><br/>According to Kastina, the Police Special Ambush Squad working on intelligence report apprehended the gang which confessed to be in partner with the 80-year-old man who serves as the gang’s armourer, custodian and supplier of arms and ammunition.<br/><br/>Momoh Rapheal, it was further explained, specializes in selling the arms and ammunition which he purchases from Ibadan, Oyo state to the gang.<br/><br/>Two members of the gang were ex – convicts recently release from jail. Oluwaseun Ikupeleye was recently release on bail and standing trial on criminal conspiracy and armed robbery while Mumuni Salihu was convicted for r*pe but was granted amnesty.<br/><br/>One of the robbers, Ikechukwu Godfrey from Porthacourt who was arrested with a stolen Golf car with registration number AN 749 RUM while on transit in the State said he was prompted by “spirit” to indulge in crime.<br/><br/>Items recovered from the armed robbers are one AK47 rifles, one double barrel short gun, three single barrel guns, five pistols, fifty six 7.62 mm ammunitions, 14 life cartridges, charms, six handsets, Honda accord saloon car, Vento golf car, one boxer motorcycle, TV set, DVD player, mattresses, DSTV decoder Stereo set and cutlasses. But as a matter of fact, the truth I must say, is the opposite. With the kind of civil strife going on today in the North, there cannot be any other objective except to break up the country. What is going on in the North is unacceptable. The concept of suicide bombing is unacceptable to me as a Southerner and I insist that it is just crazy, I don’t know where it is coming from, I cannot understand what will make anybody bomb innocent people in churches and also in the market place. I don’t understand that.<br/>So, if they cannot put their house in order, and as a result there is a threat to the corporate existence of the nation, they should look inward for the causes of the strife that is going on. But it is clear that this is not in our culture and founding of the Nigerian nation, why, this suicide bombing, killing people who are worshipping their God. Why? It is just insanity. So, they should look inward and not point accusing fingers at the South. When we had conflict in the Niger Delta, the purpose was clear.<br/>It was to send a message to say, look, we are being marginalized; resources are being taken from our environment and the environment is being decremented, please we need attention, we need help. And finally it was even a northern president who saw the injustice of what was going on and constructed what we now call the amnesty programme. The purpose of that was very clear, what is the purpose of the civil strife and the murderous attitude among the so-called Boko- Haram in the North. It is difficult to understand, so, they should look inward, they should not look for solutions where they do not exist.<br/>The year 2014 will mark 100 years of the amalgamation of the South with the North by Lord Fredrick Lugard. Is there a basis for sustaining the union today?<br/>Well, I think there is. There is nothing like a large nation, there is nothing like the population we have, there is this reality that close to 100 years, have worked relatively smoothly together and of course, the struggle for power is always there and it is when there is struggle for power that we remember where we come from and the rest of it. I pray that we can stay as a nation because our impact in the international arena will be much better the way we are and I don’t think there are traces here that will call to question the fundamentals of the amalgamation which took place long ago, which again was for economic reasons and those economic reasons still exist up to today.<br/>I hope we stay as one, but if we can’t at the end of the day after all in the whole world now, we have begun to have nation states all over the place; Belgium; Slovakia, Czech, all in peaceful separation. I hope and sincerely pray that it does not come to that.

I remember it was a particular friend of ours that was around that day, although I would not like to mention his name.<br/>"And when I got to Lagos that day, he was like ‘let’s go to the club.’ When we got to the club, the place was totally empty. Obviously confused, I asked him, baby, what are we doing here, it’s empty” and before I turned back, my brothers and friends showed up. I was so perplexed that I had to ask what everybody was doing around there and they said they heard we were there and they came.<br/><br/>“Just about few minutes after, Tuface picked up the microphone and I thought he was going to do all the normal hypes he does when he goes to the club. But he shocked me. He started saying things about how I have always been there for him since day one. How I have sacrificed alot for him. How I have cried and stood strong during his trying moments.<br/><br/>The truth is, he said so many things I can’t remember now. He said so many wonderful things that sent me into another world and I couldn’t even hear the other things he said.<br/><br/>“I didn’t even know when he walked up to me and he said “Please, will you marry me?” And I was like, “Can you imagine? What’s going on here?” he was saying so many things that I can’t even remember. It all blew my head.<br/><br/>“Although, it has not been easy since we had our traditional marriage. The truth is, it is not easy to be married to a superstar but I still live my normal life. Right now, I feel 24 hours is not enough for me because I have my husband, my daughter and myself to take care of. It has really been crazy and God knows I have been trying my best. Not done with her bestial mission, the suspect sat back at the scene of the crime until her victims’ parents returned, and attacked their mother.<br/><br/>For Mr and Mrs Nwanneka Ogechukwu Okonkwo, both natives of Ekwulumili in Nnewi South Local Government Area but resident in Igbo-Ukwu, January 15, 2013, came like any other day. But the young couple who are each 28 years old, never knew that it was the day their four children, Chukwuebuka, (13), Chukwumelum (6) Obumneme (3) and 15-month-old Chinenyenwa would breathe their last.<br/><br/>The young couple had no premonition of the tragedy that shocked everybody in the community. Their three sons and a daughter were allegedly killed by a lady simply identified as Blessing, from Abakiliki in Ebonyi State. Narrating the tragic incident, the mother of the dead children who spoke with Sunday Sun at Ekwulumili Health Centre where she was recuperating from the shock, said that she was also attacked by the suspect. Mrs Okonkwo said that the eldest of her children, Chukwuebuka, was the first casualty.<br/><br/>According to her, the suspect allegedly hit him on his forehead with a hard object and dumped the lifeless body inside an underground tank in the compound before strangling his siblings one after the other. “I was to go for a burial ceremony with my husband at Ukpor on that fateful day and the children went to school. We initially left with the youngest one, Chinenyenwa but the vehicle we boarded was jam-packed with passengers and the baby started crying. Consequently, my husband said we should disembark and use our motorcycle but people around said the road was too dusty to ride with a baby on a bike.<br/><br/>I decided to go home and wait for our other children who went to school so that they would take care of the baby and enable my husband and I to make the trip with our motorcycle. “But long after school hours, the children didn’t come home. We went to the school and other pupils told us that our children had gone home. I looked for them along the roads they usually take to the house but I did not see them.<br/><br/>Thereafter, I urged my husband to go on his own and look for them, but he returned soon after, saying he had seen them coming home. Before my husband and I left for the burial, I gave them food and told them to go and stay with an old woman in the neighbourhood because we are the only occupants of that building, and I don’t like them staying alone in the compound. “We had stayed barely one hour at the burial ceremony when my husband said we should go home.<br/><br/>But before we left, my husband’s phone rang and I heard him say, ‘I’m in a burial’. So, as we got close to our home, his phone rang again and he told the caller that we were not back yet. I didn’t ask him who the caller was as we rode straight to the house.<br/><br/>“When we got to the elderly neighbour’s house, we were told that she had gone for prayers and that my children were not seen there. We got to the house and I opened the gate from behind believing that the children were inside the house. As we parked our motorcycle inside the compound, my husband pointed to the underground tank that was open. I became apprehensive because we don’t keep it open. But I said maybe the eldest might have drawn water from the well and had forgotten to close it.<br/><br/>I called Ebuka but there was no response. I ran into the sitting room and saw the three younger ones lying on the floor as if they were asleep. I ran out again believing that those three were sleeping. I continued to call Ebuka and looked into the tank and I didn’t see anything. “Later, I decided to wake up Ebuka’s immediate younger brother to ascertain the whereabouts of his brother. I called him but he didn’t wake up; I tried to rouse him but he was motionless and so were the other two. I cried to my husband that the children were dead and I concluded that since the three were dead, Ebuka might be inside the well.<br/><br/>There were marks of human nails on their necks that showed that they were strangled. One of them had faeces in his anus. “It was when my husband started crying and moved towards our bedroom, that the lady (suspect) emerged from the bedroom and asked him why he was shouting. Then, I advanced towards her and demanded from her, where she kept Ebuka’s body because I had seen the others she killed. I held her and she gripped me. When I freed myself from her grip, I rushed to lock one of the two gates and raised the alarm until neighbours came.<br/><br/>“Later, somebody rushed out and called the youths of the community before the local vigilante and policemen arrived.
